Chapter 9, Sword Movies!

We all love sword movies, right? Whether its knights, barbarians, cavaliers or samurai. Even (especially?) when they include dragons or wizards. Most of us who have pursued historic reenactment have to come to our love through cinema as much as historical reading.

We decided it would be fun to reminisce about our favorites, both the best AND the worst! Join us for a fun trip and be sure to add any that we no doubt missed, in the comments!

Chapter 8 – Propriety

In this chapter we use Propriety, in the sense of ‘appropriate-ness’ or ‘acting properly’ as an extension of Courtesy. That is, showing respect for an occasion or venue, and being courteous enough to behave in a manner consistent with the expectations of the hosts/sponsors and other guests or attendees

As we find with many of the other virtues, Humility is necessary to recognize that your individual attitudes are not the most important consideration in a given situation.

Joe’s Six ‘Food’ Groups of St. Valentine’s Day

With St. Valentine’s Day around the corner, we thought it might be worthwhile to distribute this handy guide. Chapter 7 – Courtesy

Courtesy, as one of our Twelve Virtues, is more than just being polite. To our knightly forebears, courtesy meant those manners necessary for interaction at a noble court.

So what does it mean to us now? How do manners and etiquette affect our everyday interactions, and how do we apply chivalry to those interactions and our social behaviors? In many ways, this is at the core of our discussions.
